Launch of Construction of Brain Imaging Center
Construction of the Brain Imaging Centre at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute was recently launched by the Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec, as part of a $21,427,000 co-funded project. Construction work on the centre should continue until the beginning of 2011.
The new center will house two magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines. This leading-edge technology will allow scientists to study brain development over time, which, in turn, will markedly improve the accuracy of diagnosis and prognosis. Our overall understanding of a wide variety of conditions, such as Alzheimer's Disease, schizophrenia, depressive disorders, and autism, will be greatly increased.
